The Worst Experience Ever 4/8/2011

I went to get a new battery for my car and asked the auto staff if I could purchase the tool required to unscrew the top battery bracket, but they said they didn't carry the tool and I would have to go to the main store. They acted like it would be simple to find the tool. They told me the wrong tool and I was never able to find it even though I had assistance. I drove back home (30 miles) in my rental, hooked up the new battery (on top of the old) and drove back and asked to use the tool. They wanted to charge me for an installation fee. One employee was going to take out the screws but then the manager (a very rude fat black lady) began yapping at me, acting very arrogant and rude. Rather than defuse my frustration, she apparently wanted to create a yelling match. Not once did she apologize for my lost day (I had spent 4 hrs on this) or my experience. The employee who sold me the battery told me he understood my frustration. He responded appropriately. All I wanted was to get the proper tool to replace my battery. This lady was a disaster and she refused to stand clear of me as I was rehooking the battery to leave. I went to Mobil 1 where they were happy to remove the screws for me and they did not try to nickel and dime me. I will never go to Sears again. This experience shows why this company is in a downward spiral. Maybe if Sears hired competant managers instead of picking employees from Walmart to satisfy affirmative action BS, they might be able to get their act together. more
