Huge disappointment 12/13/2011

If you are looking for a casual place to meet with friends, have a decent meal or just a couple of beers, this IS NOT the place to go. Starting on a good note – our server was very good. Although new to the business, he tried hard and was very attentive (And yes, I tipped him good and did not punish him for crappy food) You would think that (especially) since there are two other bar and grille’s (both very good) in the same plaza as the brick yard, they would at least try to impress the locals with a good experience to launch this new establishment. Sadly, they didn’t even try. First, don’t let the name mislead you. This is NOT a micro-brewery. They offer a good variety of ‘specialty’ beers… blue moon etc… nothing special IMO. Second – If you are hungry, don’t bother. Although the prices for menu items seemed reasonable, the food was simply bad. We ordered the stuffed clam as a starter, nothing special (ever eat the frozen one’s from PUBLIX ?) taste wise, and breading was soggy – like too much water in the stovetop and not cold, just room temp. I ordered the St. Louis ribs. They were pretty much like rubber (you will need a knife and patient jaws to get these down. I asked to substitute onion rings for the fries (fully prepared to pay extra as you do in most places) but was informed that management did not allow this and I would have to purchase the rings separately at full price. Our daughter ordered a burger. Kinda hard to screw that up. Other than not being cooked as requested (extremely well done .vs. medium) cheese not melted and also room temp, she liked it. You do however get to choose the weight of the beef patty !! My ribs and her burger came with fries – both orders were more that burned. They were almost black (the entire pile of fries), dry and just yuck…. My wife ordered their flatbread pizza (cheese with sausage). All I will say is that if you want anything similar to pizza, go to sal’s across the parking lot…. Ahh.. and the beers.. If you want to pay 5 bucks for a bud light or other domestic ‘non specialty’ beer – then this is your place. All said and done, If you want a good meal, good service, reasonable prices for drinks – do yourself a favor and cross the parking lot to either WOWIE'S or HURRICANES. more
