I'm starting to get the feeling that ""Horrible"" is a good label for the way OSF & Methodist, train their students to decide to behave when they are at work.
For whatever reason, maybe because most of the doctors who work in Peoria IL are at the age where they should really retire.
I'll go ahead and try to simply relay the facts about my Emergency room visit before I give my opinion about the ""goings on"" during the visit.
I call an ambulance because I dislocated my right arm, and couldn't relocate it. The ambulance pulls up to the emergency room and wheels the stretcher into the ER, I'm telling anyone who'll listen, ""I need to have my arm relocated""...instead I'm put into a room where I'm told I need to wait to see a doctor. About 45 minutes after I arrived in the building, I finally see a doctor and he starts giving excuses why he can't relocate the arm. I did think it was odd that I had to ask to have the x-rays, the doctor apparently needed to have before he would try to relocate my arm. So I ask to have the X-rays and he leaves...the x-ray nurse comes in and takes me to do the x-rays. I'm shown back to the room I was in before I went with the X-ray nurse, where I try to prepare myself to have my arm relocated by another person (always a painful thing) When the doctor comes in he says ""the nurse took pictures of the wrong shoulder"", I say again ""can I have the x-rays you apparently need before you can relocate my arm"", he he strolls out of the room with a strange smile on his face. At this point I was realizing the only person I could count on to identify and find a solution to the most immediate problem=the dislocated arm, was me & I had to do it as soon as possible. I had been given a pain medication which helped to relax the muscles that had instinctively tightened around the entire shoulder area, so relocating the arm was relatively easy at this point and I had no difficulty doing it. I was instantly relieved, but the doctor still wanted the x-ray that was only needed so that he could relocate the arm.
This visit was amazing, the nurse that was trying to inject me with the pain medication was having trouble because my left arm was in a sling and couldn't be used, my right arm was dislocated and anytime it was touched I made a sound a person makes when their dislocated arm is touched, so while ""trying to find a vein"" she made 5 or 6 holes in my arm, she passive aggressively ""tapped"" the vein about 10 or 20 times before trying to inject the syringe and the topper is when I reacted to whatever she was doing, she screamed at me. after enduring about 20 minutes of this another nurse came in and accomplished in 5 seconds what the other was ""trying"" for a long time (even when your arm isn't dislocated).
Dr. Greg J Sowards should be ashamed of himself for allowing this to happen under his watch, but he shouldn't be given the responsibility either, he clearly can't handle it. After talking to him and sort of being treated by him, it's completely understandable where his nurses got the idea that kind of behavior is acceptable.
I think if I have another dislocation I can't immediately relocate myself (the way I normally do) I will simply go to the proctor emergency room, or just wait until my family doctor is in his office (which would probably mean less waiting and less paperwork than the Methodist emergency room anyway).
