My stay at this hotel was a nightmare. There was no hot water in my room which was discovered at 5:30 am prior to my flight to Dallas. The staff opened another room and there was no hot water in that room either! The room was small (cramped) and less than clean. Every location in the hotel including the lobby smelled musty, dusty, stale and unpleasant. I was charged an extra $15 at check-out for ""historic preservation""? This amount was not disclosed at check-in and should be included in the room price, in my opinion. The television did not work upon arrival. A repairman was able to fix it in a couple of hours. When it was operational, I was dismayed with the poor picture quality (one of those old, large-tube TVs), abysmal channel selection, and no movie channel options. The staff was inattentive, unprofessional, disorganized, and very unkempt in appearance. When the conditions of the hotel were discussed with the manager by phone, he was argumentative and surly. The Peery Hotel is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a four-star hotel. And, there is nothing romantic or charming about it. Avoid this hotel at all costs unless you like a tired, dirty, decaying, smelly, old hotel with an ice-cold shower to greet you in the morning.
