BEWARE! 11/10/2010

My husband called Roy's Clock Shop about fixing his wall clock. The owner said he'd stop by the house and look at it, neglecting to tell my husband that it would cost $145. Upon arriving he assured my husband that the clock would be fixed for that amount, and, since he was already here, hubby told him to go ahead. After oiling and fiddling with the clock for 45 minutes, the man said it is running, collected his money and left. Before he could get out of the driveway, we had already determined that the hands were definitely NOT moving. Hubby called him immediately. Almost a week later, he showed up and said that it would be another $100 to fix it. This is a nice used German clock, not an antique, and worth new about the total cost he wants to fix it--not counting what we paid for it when we purchased it. My husband told him he didn't think it was fair to keep charging him when he said it was fixed for the $145. My husband offered to pay him $50 more and that was it to have his clock running and he refused. He also refused to give my husband any refund, even a partial one. Beware when you call for a clock repair, get everything up front with this business. We still have a clock that does not work for a $145 repair bill and we refuse to give this person anymore money. more
