I took my cars to PEP BOYS for the New York State Inspection. They do a thorough inspection, which usually results the replacement of shocks, exhaust system, or tires. I don't think airliners receive such a comprehensive inspection. I have since bought my own tools and the vehicle shop manuals, and figured out how to save $80 an hour on labor. They're always expensive, and much of the merchandise they sell is Made in China junk. (If you want tools that actually do the job, or a jackstand that won't kill you, buy Made in USA. China makes good replica tools that break in the middle of a job, leaving you S.O.L.)\r
I believe the employees are pressured by the Mafia Pep Boys to take the vehicles apart and find any problems not even related to the reason the car was brought in. It's a poor reflection on the professional mechanics and technicians out there that actually do a good job.
