Bierkraft does it all! 1/18/2010

Bierkraft in Park Slope, Brooklyn is the best small beer store I've been to, hands down. When you walk in they have the fridge loaded with vintage beers on the left and shelving with newer beers on the right (it's not so cut and dry but that's what I noticed). There really are some gems to be found here for your beer cellar. As you walk back there's a bottle filling station with a constantly changing assortment of fresh beers. They will fill any 64 oz. growler with a screw top or a 22 oz. capped bomber (if you don't bring your own glassware they will just charge you for deposit). The top 3 features of the filling station are: -Utilizes a homemade counter pressure filling system (so the beer you get is essentially as if it were bottled from the brewery) -WIll fill 22 oz. bombers for you (and cap them) so you don't have to buy 64 oz. of beer and worry about it staying fresh once you open it -They feature some of the best beers that come into NYC (in the past they've had Ommegang Rouge, The Bruery Melange No. 3, and Goose Island Night Stalker) To top everything off they have an incredible charcuterie (fancy word for deli). I chose the Italian - which features authentic Italian meats (coppicola, soppresata, mortadella) and the fixin's on a fresh ciabatta sub. For $9 you get the sub and your choice of local chips or local apple. Any beer you purchase in the store can be drank on site in the nice and cozy picnic table-esque seating area - and they provide the glassware too! Overall, this is a great place to go with your beer-loving friends and even if you don't care for beer you can still go and get one of the best sandwiches I've tasted in NYC. Cheers! Pros: Excellent vintage beer selection, fresh beer fills Cons: High prices, small place more
