Keller's IGA is one of the top five reasons that I continue to live in the City of Cincinnati. Everyone who lives Downtown and shops somewhere in Kentucky is missing out. There is a review on this site that says the selection at Keller's is limited, and nothing could be farther from true. I am amazed at the inventory that this store keeps. Appreciating quality meats, produce, cheeses, beer, and wine, I am also amazed at the quality packed into a mid-size grocery. Take a little test: Look for something even vaguely exotic at Kroger, Biggs, and Keller's. I bet that you find it at Keller's -- and if you find it at one of the other two, I bet you find it at Keller's quicker. I will also bet that shopping there will take you half the time, and 1/10 of the time to check out. While a store like Meijer takes up 10 acres of once-proud farmland and only has two vaguely conscious cashiers on duty at once, I have NEVER waited in line at Keller's for more than 5 minutes, and have almost always had exceptional service. Keller's is the last of the Mohicans. It is the last family grocery where the inventory is based on human beings who shop there having conversations with human beings who place orders, manage it, stock the shelves, and who will walk you to your car with your groceries. If little Muffy thinks it looks dingy or lacks updated lighting, she is correct. It does. That isn't because it is poorly run or dirty. It is neither. It is a little worn because it is a family business that has provided jobs and quality groceries for roughly 60 years. Admittedly, it isn't Hyde Park Kroger. The selection is often as good or better, the quality is equivalent, but the smugness, yuppie corporate phoniness, and $300,000 lighting budget are absent.
