Petcos in general have a very bad rep regarding care of animals. Once I found a bird there whose neck had been sandwiched between his feeder and the cage, obviously only the employee who had just fed him could have done it. I ran to tell the manager, and the bird was unconscious at first but slowly came back (who knows what kind of permanent damage he incurred) and the manager DID NOT CARE AT ALL. Another time, 2 non-English speakers were in there with a puppy, looking for a collar for him and totally oblivious to the fact that the puppy was near death. He could not move, eyes rolling back in his head-- no kidding. I went to tell the manager because these people did not care after I told them to get the dog to a vet (next door) and simply continued looking at collars!!! Collars with spikes!!! Tiny dying puppy, probably pit bull or part pit bull. The manager again DID NOT CARE AT ALL AND WAS VERY RUDE TO ME. Petco is evil-- don't shop there.
