We used to go to the Wash Ave location pretty often for lunch and/or dinner and the food was decent but not remotely close to any well known Chicago deep dish pizza places in Illinois. But, its about close as you're going to get in Houston.
NOW - its just terrible all around. I'm sorry, but you cant enjoy a meal EVER if the service has upset you. As a business owner, I can say that whoever the manager and cook was on the evening of August 25, 2009 (Tues) just needs to be fired. Obviously, there is an issue here after reading the other reviews. We waited an HOUR (no joke) and there were maybe 4 tables seated in the whole restaurant. Our waiter could sense our frustration and informed us that our pizza was burned and it would be about another ten minutes. We opted to WALK OUT and go for Wendy's instead of probably waiting another 10-15 minutes to eat undercooked or burnt pizza and be po'd all night. Did the manager get off his cell phone and apologize that we sat there for an hour and missed our movie? Nope, but he ""graciously"" comped my ice tea and a bowl of caesar salad. This was strike 2 in the last 2 weeks...the other time the valet demanded I park my car (high end benz) on some crushed rocks where it was sure to be either dinged or backed into by one of the huge trucks with hitches cramped into tiny spaces. So, it was kinda take it or leave it - so we left it. I'm easy going but c'mon - 2 walk outs??? This is the only place in my life I ever walked out - and TWO times.
Don't waste your time, go to stars pizza down the street, raias down the street (EXCELLENT SERVICE AND PARKING), or order in from papa johns for that matter. Sad, bc this place used to be good to grab some vino and relax when it first opened. I'll never go back. Places with service like this make you want to stop going out to eat. Our waiter was nice and kept the ice-t flowing though. I felt bad that the cook and manager cost him a tip.
