We purchased carpet for one small room in our house from Carpet America. They were so great in the showroom. Someone came out the next day to measure and was very professional. We didn't hear anything from Carpet America for three weeks. Finally they called to tell us the carpet was in. Had to wait over a week to get it installed but that was fine with us. So now we are four weeks into this process when the installer shows up late to install the carpet. We scheduled between 9-12 and he arrived after 1pm. He looked at the room and told us that the sales person did not order enough carpet. He told us he could put down what he did have enough for, but could not guarantee that the amount to be ordered would match. So opted to wait until more carpet could be ordered. The salesman was ""very sorry"". He admitted to making the mistake, appologized many times and said we would be compensated. (This I didn't believe but if he felt better saying it, whatever.) Over a week later, we get the call saying the carpet is in and the salesman tells me we will be first ones to get installation on the following Friday. On the day of the installer calls and says we are not to be first that it will be a few hours. When I called the show room I told the salesperson that this was very unprofessional and that when you tell someone you will do something, it should be done. He said he might have told me that it would be installed first but he didn't really mean it. He then proceeded to shout at me and tell me that I was lucky to be getting carpet. I guess he forgot that we had paid for it and it wasn't like he was giving us a gift or anything. Of course, no mention of the ""compensation"" he referred to was mentioned. I didn't think it ever would be. I don't want anything from them...just want to be done with with them. I guess business during a recession is great for Flooring America because they feel like they can treat their customers like dirt.
Pros: Clean bathrooms in the showroom
Cons: Once the sale is made, they don't care about the customer
