What a joke...this place just doesn't get it. Today I came in for the 4th time in a week. Thought I'd really found a cool hang-out near my place for drinks and neighbors and the sports page during Happy Hour, but no - sadly, I was mistaken. The owner would rather hang on to his .75 cents worth of wholesale bread and roast beef than hang on to a new, potentially regularly returning customer. To explain; after already dropping $25 on a dinner and a couple of drinks I will still hungry. So I asked for a 1/2 order of a sandwich. That's all - nothing difficult or surprising or unheard of in any casual dining place, much less a pub/dive called "The Shack". Instead of a "sure!, I can make that work", I got not one, but two lectures on why they couldn't do that because it would mean "wasting a portioned" bread roll and ounce of roast beef. When I countered that this seemed a bit silly, when the other half of the bread roll and the roast beef could be put to other uses or saved for another 1/2 order, the owner turned red in the face and said "I'm sorry that you think I'M silly...." wtf?? He took it all personal! So I told him I didn't think HE was silly, just the policy of no 1/2 orders. He and his bartenders just walked away, like petulant children. This was AFTER I calmly explained that it was my fourth visit in a week and that I really liked this place! It was like they didn't really give a sh_t about losing a brand new customer, who had been tipping reallly well! With customer service like this, no wonder each time I was in there between 5pm and 7pm I could not count more than 6 other customers on any day. Hey Shack! - enjoy that .75 cents of savings! You just lost a customer who potentially would have brought in a few hundred in the next several months!
Pros: It's not crowded during Happy Hour
Cons: There's a reason it's not crowded during Happy Hour!
