Be aware -- this restaurant is *not* Cafe Bizou, it's now called "Prego" and is under new ownership. New owner and wife are very unpleasant and unfortunately, these are the first people you see. The food is bland, forgettable, and completely overpriced. If I wanted to pay $30 per plate, I surely know where else to go in Santa Monica. The service... oh, the service. I don't know where the owner found these so-called "waiters," but we had to tell them to do everything. Refill our water, refill our wine glasses, take away the salad plates before bringing in our entrees... They tried to put entrees on the table while my mom was in the middle of a toast (we were celebrating). I had to slip the waiter a $20 just to get anything done; otherwise, the staff stood against the wall and looked at us numbly. Oh, and they slapped on a mandatory 20% tip because our party was large. Usually, I tip really well because waiters have a hard job, but I felt cheated this time. It's no wonder this restaurant is completely empty 90% of the time. Too bad, because the old Cafe Bizou was really nice and we enjoyed going there. If I could give negative stars, I would.
