I was sixteen and I dropped out of high school. My mom told me to either get a job or go back to school, and I had seen a commercial on T.v . It was a commercial for Job Corps. I decided to sign up. I started at the Gainesville Job coprs on May 7th 2002. It was very emotional for me. It was the first time i had ever been seperated from my mom and brother ever. The staff were very helpful. And they encourage the students to mingle and get to know each other. I started out in Culinary Arts and ended up receiving my degree in Union painting. How that happened im not sure. I also recieved my GED. Overall I enjoyed my experiences at Job Corps, and would recommend going to anyone who feels that they dont have anymore options. It;s a experienc you will never forget and you will walk away with a future. And tons of friendships. Consider it.
Pros: future, friendships, social skills, technical and educational skills that wil last a life time
Cons: ill tempered people, nosy people, no privacy.
