I will admit that I started out as an ""Orvis shop"" guy. However once I began to fine tune myself with the sport of flyfishing I noticed how out of tune other companies had become. Lacking in what I needed as far as performance the old shops I visited had not offered anything from rods to waders that I wanted in order to further my game. I finally fell upon the shop Choo Choo F&T and due to referral by an Orvis shop mngr. Isnt that ironic. Long story short, to feel welcome in this shop the shop has to feel welcome to you. Dont walk in and expect for Mac to bow down and teach you all he knows about fishing. He's running a business for goodness sake not a school. And customer service is not a priority if you know what you are looking for in a shop. If you dont know, kindly ask an employee for help. If they dont satisfy your needs ask Mac. The last time I was there Mac was helping a man and his son who neither seemed to know much about fly fishing yet Mac helped them the best he knew how. I have been in this shop twice knowing exactly what I needed and both times I was welcomed by the staff and appreciated for my business, not to mention ""good lucked"" on my local stream. Bottom line, you know where you do and do not belong by how you are welcomed, and you are welcomed by how you present yourself.
Pros: equipment, staff
Cons: an hour from my house:(
