This is a VERY cheap theater for the Chicago area. Matinee and Student tickets are only $5 that's about half what you pay at many local theaters, but they do check student ID's, so if you want the student price, bring your ID. You can get a popcorn and drink combo for about $7, pretty well on par with other theaters in the area, but if you come on a Wednesday, you get free popcorn, all you have to do is bring your own bowl or bag. \r
My husband and I are grad students who live nearby, and whenever we have time for a movie, we try to go here, especially on Wednesdays. We pop a couple of ziploc baggies in our pockets and head out for a cheap date. There isn't much parking along Sheridan, so we walk, but the buses and red line are also convenient. Our friends from school have come with us several times, and now they look for movies here first too. The theaters are small and rarely crowded, but the floors tend to be a little sticky and sometimes there is one worker running everything, so movies may not start exactly on time. We have experienced the theaters being a little chilly too, especially on weeknights, so bring an extra jacket or sweatshirt. Overall, for us, the savings and the convenient location outweigh all the cons!
