Every day I drive by these apartments and am reminded how horrendously they screwed me over.\r
\r
The short version: I get a call at 4:45 p.m. on a Wednesday afternoon when I'm supposed to be moving in at 8 a.m. Friday. I'm told that the previous tenant never moved out and that they have no place for me to live. I had already signed the lease; they'd already deposited my first month's rent and deposit, I'd hired movers, etc.\r
\r
Their solution: None. They had vacancies at one of their other properties (20 mins away from where I was supposed to be moving into) that allowed pets and had immediate move-in. And they'd put me on the waiting list for the next apartment to open up at the Richelieu. But I'd have to move twice -- once to this lame place in Greenwood and then again whenever a 2 br at the Richelieu became available, meaning that I'd have to pay for two moves, despite the fact that it was their screw up.\r
\r
My only option: Hire a lawyer. Got some money back but not enough to compensate for the stress and junk I had to deal with after finding out that I had no place to live essentially a day before I was supposed to move in.\r
\r
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE experience. I can't believe businesses can actually behave this way and stay in business. And that renters have no rights in a situation like this.
