I was underwhelmed by my visit to 13 Celsius, perhaps because of all of the hype I had heard and read prior to my visit. Yes, the architecture is interesting and ""preservation-mod cool."" They left the cieling and walls and floors ""untreated"" to preserve the character of the drycleaners it was once. Too bad it is probably just as loud now as it was then, too. My wife and I visited on a Friday evening after dinner. Place was packed with lots of loud talkers in ""business casual"" trying to be heard over the tinny music with no bass sound (we heard a lot of high-hat and snare, with the occasional yelled lyric). The lack of soft surfaces turns the place into a hard amplification chamber. The bar staff reflected the hard surface of their workspace - no engagement, no warmth, no interaction even to check how we were doing. Not at all what I had expected or hoped for. I won't go back, despite (or because of) how much I loooked forward to liking the place I had heard so much about. Maybe the name of the place reflects one's reception - cool, too cool.
