I called Lower East Side Car Service and made a reservation to go to the Airport the night prior to my leaving NY. Once I was picked up, the driver proceeded to take me to the airport, then pulled over when he discovered I would be paying with a credit card. He said it would be dificult to pay once we arrived there, as the airport would be too busy at drop-off, therefore I had to pay at that time. I'd never experienced that before. He asked how much I was quoted and once I told him the price he said that the operator was mistaken and it would cost approximately double for him take me to Newark. After I objected for nearly 20 minutes and we called the operator, which the orginal operator was no longer there, I felt I had no choice but to pay his asking price, as I would miss my flight if I did not agree. It was 4am in the morning and most other car services wouldn't be able to meet such a last minute request, especially in the snow. Overall, it appeared to be a big scam in which they take advantage of customers in a vulnerable position. I would never reccommend anyone use there service.
