I am glad I asked my FB friends for some ideas while in Dallas. I had the combo plate (ribs, shoulder, & brisket) with some rings, beans, and mac N cheese. Tons of food and luckily I had some help from 'da 'rents.
The sauce is strong. Served warm in a Corona bottle. Legit! The rings are big super crispy but a bit greasy. Shredded pig shoulder is soft and pairs well with the sauce. Stick with the warm sauce instead of the ""pork sauce"".
Ribs were okay, but not as tender as I dreamed. The brisket was good with a nice pink ring & good flavor by itself.
Guess it is true, Texas knows how to BBQ.
For the record I think Salt Lick is still the strongest bbq show in TX. I gotta get me back down to Austin. Sonny Bryan's will certainly tied me over until I get back there!
Pros: quantity, sauce, onion rings
Cons: strip mall setting, grease
