Unfriendly, power-hungry staff, poor sound quality 10/24/2008

I've spent many a day in various music venues through out the US and let me say Showbox Sodo's flaws lie solely on their staff. Upon arrival, I am overly, intrusively searched. Before I even enter the facility, a beefed up bouncer is going through my wallet and every pocket of my purse while people behind are starting to sway and cross their arms. My sister is with me and asks where 'will-call' is located, another gruffly metal-dressed bouncer response in a huff, ""um, it's over there, are you going in together or separate because he's going to have to search your bag again [looking in my direction]?"" Next, it's ID checking time. The guy looks me up and down, flashlighting every feature with a look of detest on his face. I felt like an East Germany attempting to cross into West Germany before 1989. Once I crossed the barricades, I witnessed the staff being overbearing, sarcastic, and downright mean to various patrons. The staff, a group of blatant power hungry vultures, was all over the crowd. Flashing lights on people, taking away cameras (with flashes), separating people by force, yelling at people because of drinks, following people, budding up to be extra intimidating, and lacing people with incriminating stares. It was very bizarre, uncomfortable and pathetic. Since when is going to a Kooks concert in Seattle, the equivalent of 'partying' in soviet Russia? If this is the future of Seattle venues, count me out. Pros: 21 and over section Cons: staff, staff, staff more
