We celebrated my friend's 26th birthday at the Blue Dragonfly. We were looking for a fun, hip place with a nice dance floor and this place provided that. The downstairs was especially fun for dancing and having a good time. I did however try to request a song for my friend's birthday and the DJ was very rude about it. I asked him to play a song and he snapped at me saying it was a ""90's themed night"". I wasn't aware, so on the spot I asked him to play ""I Like Big Butts"", a 90's classic. Instead of playing the song the DJ made fun of me saying, ""Sir Mix A lot? Really? Oh yeah...THAT'S original,"" and he never actually played the song. If it's going to be a 90's theme, I'd think that song would be okay. Another time my friend approached the DJ and told him it was her birthday to which he replied, ""So?"" I thought it was particularly uncalled for. We were just trying to have a good time. However, despite the rude DJ, the bartender downstairs was amazing. He payed close attention to us and we always got amazing service. He was attentive, funny and made a great drink. The vibe of the place was energetic and urban, which was just what we were looking for. The patio was also a great space to sit outside and get some fresh air. Overall we had a great time and I'm happy there's a place like this on the east side. Be cautious of the DJ though.
Pros: large dance floor, outside patio, atmosphere
Cons: rude DJ
