Avoid if you want well prepared, tasty food. The management is not concerned with their patrons dining experience. 3/26/2007

Cafe Plazuela is a hotel coffee shop in the Hotel Albuquerque. Cristobal's is the dinner venue there. My husband and I made use of a $60.00 gift certificate and ate lunch at Cafe Plazuela. The lunch menu lists a variety of American and Southwestern dishes. We both selected the burritos. Our waitperson was a pleasant young woman who brought us our burritos in fairly short order. The red chile was glutinous, a messy, unattractive gravy overspiced with cumin. The tortilla was as hard to chew as spandex might be. The pinto beans were almost black and had absolutely no taste at all. The rice was the long grain variety and an attempt had been made to season it in the southwestern style however it tasted more like bad Chinese fried rice. There were a few pieces of lettuce and 3 small sliced tomatoes as garnish. Those were the best tasting parts of the lunch. We ordered Raspberry iced tea which tasted like packaged tea. The bill came to approximately $26.00. They refused to return the balance of our $60.00 gift certificate in the form of a gift certificate for the $34.00 remaining of the $60.00 The shift manager and the General Manager said our options were to order more food to eat there or order take home. We were not looking forward to eating more of their food so they kept the balance. Pros: can't think of any Cons: Badly prepared, unattractively served food, unplesant tasting food. A General Manager who cares nothing about his patrons dining experience. more
