Good food, mediocre service 2/19/2007

The bf and I headed out there since we had passed it a couple of times going to Nate and Al's and the new donut place that opened up nearby. We went in for an early breakfast on President's Day and it was empty except for a couple of tables. He got breakfast and I got lunch, which seemed to be served all day long, even at 8 in the morning. I got myself the blackened chicken wrap and the bf had Rob's Big Combo so that we could try the blueberry pancakes. The food took some time to come out, even though there weren't that many people there, but my wrap was great and the portion was large enough for two people to share. His breakfast wasn't as big as the name made it out to be, because he got two tiny turkey sausages, two normal-sized pancakes and some scrambled eggs. If you're looking to buy by the pound, my wrap was definitely worth the $13, and his was almost the same price, but not the same amount of food. We ordered a couple of mochas to go, so that we could walk around the neighborhood, but the mochas took forever, they didn't put them in to go cups, so he ended pouring them in the cups. The cups came with dried coffee all over them, and then the waiter put them down and ran away without telling us which one was the non-fat vs. whole milk that we ordered. So we asked and they had made them both non-fat, so I had him remake it. And then it wasn't that good at all. Amandine on Wilshire still has the best mochas. So the experience wasn't all that great, but the food made up for it. I'll definitely go back there when I'm in the area again, but won't go there anytime I'm in a rush. more
