I would not recommend this vet... 11/30/2007

I've been taking my 8 year old Lab to Dr. Sandell at Hill Country Vet since he was less than a year old. For the first year I couldn't have been happier, (even though they charge more than most any vet in town.) They always knew my us by our names, and my dog was very comfortable on his visits.\r \r Now it seems as though you never see the same person twice when you visit. I was EXTREMELY disappointed and ended my relationship with them last month after paying $420 to have a hematoma surgically removed from my dog Sprocket's ear. The bandages weren't put on well, and kept coming off. EVERY time this happened I'd have to pay $30+ for them to put new bandages on. The follow up visits were $30+ instead of being included in the cost of the original fee. The deal breaker was when the hematoma IMMEDIATELY came back after the six week recovery time. THEY WERE GOING TO MAKE ME PAY FOR THE SAME SURGERY ALL OVER AGAIN.\r \r I took Sprocket to Dr. Woods, at Balcones Animal Clinic, as he was HIGHLY recommended by many friends and co-workers. He did the surgery for the hematoma for half the cost, charged NOTHING for the follow up visits, and promised that if it were to return there would be NO CHARGE. He also mentioned that he had never had one return. He always calls me personally to let me know Sprocket's status, and often offers home remedies at times when I can't afford much.\r \r Think twice before taking your pet to Hill Country, and read Dr. Woods reviews!!!\r \r ~Chasity and Sprocket Pros: Great location, nice clean office, prompt service. Cons: Overpriced (tends to nickel and dime you), questionable surgery quality. more
