My husband and I came across this place after reading a short interview in Boston Magazine which just briefly mentioned Green Street as a favorite local haunt. We decided to try it out on a whim and wow was that a lucky decision. I think the place used to do more Latin-vibed cuisine but now they are more ""comfort food with a twist"" and make sure you don't land on their old website but go to greenstreetgrill dot com. We went quite early on Saturday, around 5:30 PM and the place was very quiet. The drinks menu is wonderful, seasonal and well priced. You get a properly sized perfectly mixed drink, our bartender was EXCELLENT and knew the difference between stirring a drink and shaking one. The food was also great. We ordered the mussels as an appetizer and they are the best I've EVER had. A giant plate of perfectly seasoned mollusks, the broth was incredible, not to rich and made even more lovely by the sauteed leaks and sherry. For dinner, we shared the steak which was again, delicious though the ""fries"" which were more like big potato wedges were too crispy and dried out. Dessert was a Fort Washington Flip, a great fall drink with an egg. We loved this place so much, we were back again the following Saturday! This time we had the ribs as an appetizer and they were very good, not too spicy with a great smoky sauce and delicious corn bread. For dinner, it was the seared fish over succotash. A very interesting dish with vibrant green veggies in the succotash and perfectly cooked cod. We can't wait to go back again! And the super cheap parking next door makes going to a Cambridge eatery even easier.
Pros: Knowlegeable bar staff, excellent food
Cons: Might be tough to find, no sign!
