AVOID: Horrible Owners, Trashy Customer Service, and Filthy Facilities; Pup-A-Razi is the happy dog owner's NIGHTMARE 10/15/2007

I found Pup-A-Razzi by searching online for the nearest self-service dog wash. I ignored the fact that they are unpopular in Citysearch - I figured they must be OK, since they have a decent website. I had never been to a self-service dog wash before, but I assumed that it would be a fun experience, since I love going with my puppy to obedience classes and shopping with her in dog-friendly stores. When I arrived, I saw that I was their only customer. Once inside, I was surprised at how dirty their facilities were - clumps of dog hair left everywhere on the floor, stained, dingy drying towels, a greasy looking cocker spaniel alone in the daycare area with pus in his eyes. Another dog left in the bathtub alone (and wet) for an extended period of time. I have been to a dog groomer before, so I expected some mess. I just didn't expect it to be filthy. I actually didn't mind the poor condition of the facilities so much as the disrespectful and rude treatment by the staff. I couldn?t tell if one of the staff members (who was actually an owner of Pup-A-Razzi) was more unhappy with her job or her life, but she responded to each question that I had with a sarcastic, condescending remark. Then, when I tried blow-drying my puppy?s hair for the first time, she walked up to me, took the dryer out of my hand without any explanation, and blew the high-pressure stream of air in my face to ?teach me a lesson? about blow-drying a dog. I explained the incident to another one of the owners, and she shrugged it off as if it were no big deal - as if they were used to complaints like mine. In the end, I realized why this ""business"" is so unpopular. I should have known from experience using Citysearch to go with a business that actually has positive ratings and reviews. Although I walked out without being charged, ?free? is still overpriced for the Pup-A-Razzi experience. I will never let a friend be subjected to the low-class, trashy service offered by the owners of Pup-A-Razzi. Pros: They are a self-service dog wash - low quality and low class, but at least they are a place where you can wash your dog yourself. Cons: Dirty facilities, horrible treatment of customers by the owners. They're about the same price as everywhere else, but I would pay at least twice the amount they charge to wash my dog somewhere else. more
