Serving spinach during E.coli scare and rude and ignorant when customers asks about this 9/23/2006

A friend and I went to this restaurant for dinner. I remember not thinking the food was very good lasttime I went but I thought I would give it another chance. Well, we were served spinach during the E.coli scare. My date politley told the waiter that spinach has been pulled by the shelves because of the E.coli scare and that almost 100 people have died. The waiter LITERALLY told us that there is NO E.coli scare and if there was, the spinach is fresh(fresh spinach is the worst for transmitting E.coli! - you can't wash it off!). My date proceeded to tell him that spinach has been pulled from the shelves and that he should tell the cooks. He disrespectfully laughed at my date like he was an idiot and LITERALLY said "ya ya ya" and walked away!! It is a real lack of respect to the customer to serve spinach during a national E.coli scare because you are too worried about how much $$ you would lose throwing it out and also ignorant(it is on tv and in the newspapers) to put people in the SF community in possible harms way. Think of what else they might do in the kichen to save $ that might be harmful to the customer? At the end, the waiter charged us and made us pay for the spinach dish whether we wanted to eat it or not due to fears of E.Coli! I told the waiter that I am never coming back to this restaurant because I told him that I don't think we have been treated right. The waiter sent the water person to wait on us the rest of the time we were there in response to this. Cons: Food, Service, Uses Fresh Spinach during E.Coli Scare more
