So so Korean food 7/19/2006

I have eaten here several times. The service is on again off again, sometimes quite good and sometimes not so good. The dishes that you prepare on a grill yourself are good. The soups are medicore, especially the Yu Ke Jang (Hot pepper soup) and the Kimchee Jige. The side dishes (Banchon) also get mixed reviews. Sometimes minimal effort is made to prepare the Kimchees and they are very lightly seasoned with the cheapest of chili pepper powders and too rushed to be good. It is ironic that the chili pepper powder used there is so cheap considering that Korea House shares the building with a decent Korean grocery. I confess to being spoiled since I was married to a Korean American for 31 years. She knew how to make really good Kimchee and I learned so much about it from her. Seoul Hotpot -- around the corner on Payne -- has much, much better Korean food, better service and better prices. Pros: easy parking Cons: food leaves something to be desired more
