Since 67 for me; the little shack on the corner hummed like a top...yes people around the block. They had to add one in the back part but everyone preferred to wait in line and visit under the stars. The huge piece of tomato (where did they find such huge ones?); the secret sloppy joe ingredient, the size of the burger and the price (you could also have a tamale as a change of pace). The speed was what fascinated me, second only to the taste. The""showcase"" guy (there were two) was a blur as he reached up and then down, made a few more movements and there you were-the line moved. He had pride and never-got- tired energy. You felt energized. What a thing of beauty! God bless you buddy because I can't remember your name but I do remember you also had time for a few pleasantries? Thanks. I never have found such a place in my travels, anywhere. Funny, but the only place that gave it a run for its money was The Original Pantry, if its still around; and it was just a few miles away downtown.
