Japanese steakhouses conjure certain expectations: mystic ambiance, customer camraderie, master-craft chefs, interesting menu items, fresh and delicious food.
Kabuto has none of these qualities.
The ambience is forced and plastic. The menu is very bland. Our particular chef seemed like a nice, fun guy...but his skills were hardly above brown belt. The service was prompt, but lacking in any type of warmth or character.
But the biggest surprise was the food quality. Wilted vegetables, bland fried rice, ""fishy"" seafood and steak that had no right to be called filet mignon. It was the same quality you would expect from over-the-counter asian take-out. At double the price.
