La Fe Is An Echo Park Underdog. 2/21/2003

La Fe could be described as the third world of restaurants butttt it does have a somewhat charming appeal if you're not looking for any kind of ""scene"" whatsoever. The food is homecooked but still somehow lacking. The beans seemed a bit runny and watered down. Still, I have a special place in my heart for La Fe for a few reasons. It's never crowded. The prices are beyond reasonable (under $3.00 or something ridiculous like that) and the owners of the restaurant seemed so genuinely happy to serve their native dishes that I couldn't help but feel enthusiastic as well. The chocomilk esquimo is a good alternative to a frappuccino if you like sugary drinks. Good for breakfast on those mornings when you just want to be antisocial. The decor is so pitifully mismatched, it will make you want to bring them gifts of fresh flowers and tablecloths. Pros: attentive service, prices are SO low, cute drinks Cons: hole in the wall, food can be sketchy more
