The Institute of Texan Cultures has been raising awareness about the Texas melting pot since HemisFair in 1968. I think any child raised in San Antonio since then can remember field trips to the ITC; it's a wonderful museum for both children and adults. Kids' favorites include the stuffed buffalo, Native American archeological exhibits, and the surround-screen amphitheatre. A special highlight is the annual Folklife Festival every June, where craftsmen and performers from all over Texas come to represent their particular heritage.
