We have had DSL through SBC for the past 4 years or so and have been totally happy with it. You really can't beat the price, although the market is finally becoming more competitive. We have had continuous great performance with almost no downtime.
The customer service is great when there is a problem. When you call it doesn't take too long to get to a real person and they have free technical help 24 hours a day! I feel that they have always gone above and beyond to help me with issues that weren't always entirely their problem.
