Thomas Bar-B-Q is located on Eldridge Parkway just off the intersection of West Little York in a large white barn looking building. I recently decided to try them based on recommendations from people that I work with. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was pretty disappointed.
Barbeque restaurants are a dime a dozen in Texas and to make a name for yourself you really have to be top notch. Thomas was far from that. They offer a standard menu - beef brisket, sausage, smoked turkey, and ribs. You can get a "plate" or a sandwich. Since it was lunch, I opted for a smoked turkey sandwich with the sauce on the side. The sandwich was OK, but the sauce was disappointing. To me, it tasted a bit like ketchup with pepper mixed in.
One thing that I noticed up front was that their prices are higher than other local BBQ restaurants in the area (it was almost $7 for just a sandwich). They also don't offer any "extras" (beans, coleslaw, bread, etc.). You pay extra for everything. I ordered a side salad with my food and it was disappointing (especially considering that they charged $2.99 for it). I could have ordered a garden salad off the $.99 value menu at any local fast food restaurant and it would have been better.
I wasn't overly impressed with the staff or the cleanliness, either. I definitely won't be going back. If you're looking for a good, affordable BBQ restaurant, I would suggest Big Daddy's instead (you can get a sandwich, side item, and a drink for $6 including tax and it actually tastes good, too!).
