I used to love shopping at Old Navy when they first came out because the clothing was affordable and durable. I hadn't been to a "regular" Old Navy store in awhile because it seems like every time I went, they didn't have a very good selection or the prices weren't very good. The ultimate "turn off" was when I went to an Old Navy store after reading about a huge clearance sale on a "bargain" board online. It was worse than the Black Friday sales! People were fighting over clothing (literally), and I waited in line for almost two hours to make a purchase.
I decided to check out Old Navy again recently because I heard that they have a good selection of comfortable maternity clothing. Only a few Old Navy stores carry their maternity line, and so I'm grateful that this one at Katy Mills Mall actually does. Their maternity jeans and dress pants are some of the most comfortable ones I have tried (and it's nice that they are "trendy" as well). I also found that their sizing holds true to the size you wore pre-pregnancy (I have found that even though other stores "claim" that their maternity clothes are based on a certain pre-pregnancy size, usually they run smaller than the pre-pregnancy sizes). I got really lucky on the day that I went because they were offering a $5 gift card for every pair of jeans that you purchased and the jeans were also on sale.
In addition to having a great maternity line, they also have some really cute children's clothing. They always have clearance racks in the back, and I went one day last week and they were offering an additional 50% off of the clearance prices. I bought four shirts, a pair of pants, and a pair of socks for my daughter, used the gift cards I got previously when I purchased my jeans and only paid $1.74 out of pocket. I couldn't complain about that! My experience with their children's clothing has been that it tends to run "small" and I usually have to buy the next size up for my daughter.
I've been pleased with the selection at this location, but I have learned that with Old Navy, timing is everything. They seem to have turnover in their clothing styles, so something you see one week might not (and probably won't) be there the next. I have found that pretty much everything goes on sale at some point, but it can be "risky" to wait for the sale because if you do that, it might already be gone.
Most of the employees at this location seem to be fairly young and possibly new as well. When I have asked questions, they usually don't know the answers, but are willing to ask around until they can find them. I have faced long waits at check out not necessarily because they are crowded but because they will have a "glitch" and have to wait for someone to come and help them figure out how to "fix" it. I have also found that they usually only have one or two check out locations open even if it is a busy Saturday afternoon.
Overall, I'm pleased with the variety in clothing styles that is available as well as the pricing. It is always clean and well-organized.
