The Scottsdale Plaza is definitely due for a refurb. The rooms are outdated and it is more like a motel than a hotel. Don't be fooled by the "Plaza" name... this is nothing like the Plaza in New York.
However, when we stayed there it was clean and the staff was extemely nice. Their concierge is great about helping you find things to do and we found that the restaurant was quite good. The lobby is pretty and relaxing.
The best feature is the HUGE pool-sized hot tub. There's enough room there for at least 40 people and it's right next to the bar area. Very fun on a cool night.
