Failed multiple times to fix issues 8/2/2005

I have brought our 1999 Saturn SL2 in twice to have my car repaired to Wilhelm. One the first visit, the shifter was very sticky. It was difficult to get into and out of certain gears, especially into first gear when the vehicle was at a complete stop. I had already taken the vehicle in to the Saturn dealership in hopes that it would still be covered under warranty, which it was not. They told me that it would need a replacement pressure plate and clutch, if it was not the shifter cables. The dealership charged me nothing for this information and only $60 to take it apart to tell me it wasn't the shifter cables. The quote for replacing the pressure place and clutch was so high at the dealership, I thought I would try Wilhelm. After telling them what happened, they insisted on determining themselves from a test drive what the issue was. The person who drove it insisted it was the shifter cables and gave me an estimate on replacement. I agreed to the work, but was called later to let me know that the issue was not the cables, but the manual transmission, which would be over $2000. They charged me $110 to tell me what I already knew, which was way over what a dealership had charged. I tried them another time, complaining about the engine stalling out when stopping and "missing" when accelerating. Again, after charging a large amount just to figure out what the problem was, they performed the work, which didn't fix the problem. Ultimately, I spent several hundred dollars for my vehicle to be in the exact same condition as before I brought it in. more
