I NEVER post a review for ANYTHING, but I would be remiss not to post today. I went to Merritt's on 15th St at 8am this morning, 1/21/12. I got sausage rolls that were inedible because the skin was so tough; we had to take the meat out of the rolls then pull the skin off to eat them! The bakery items I got were stale as if they were old! This food was not fresh! We tried to microwave the bakery items, but that was no more successful than scraping meat out of the sausage skins! The store itself did not even smell like fresh items were being baked! Even the servers were stilted and uncomfortable as if they did not know how they were to behave; not unkind, but UNCOMFORTABLE in their environment! This was the oddest experience I have had in Tulsa and I will not return to Merritts at ANY location. If we hadn't bought this food on the way in to work and were desperate to eat this morning, I would have returned it and demanded my money back! It was not just an "okay" experience. This was appalling, and I feel like we were TRICKED into thinking this was an upscale bakery. I now think everything in their display case must have been from previous days' business! This store is a misrepresentation! As I said, I HAVE NEVER complained in this way about a business. But this is unacceptable and unethical business behavior, and an embarrassment to Mid-Tulsa! Merritt's should be ashamed! more
