I went in to VIP Salon one day on 25th Ave. in San Mateo and asked for a subtle A-Line. Paulina ended up doing my hair. After she was finished the front was about an inch and half longer than the back. It looked like she gave me a bob. I figured I would look at it in the natural light and get some second opinions in case I was wrong.
Not one person could tell I had an A-Line.
So I called her cell, the number listed on her card, and left a friendly message saying I had a question. 2 days and no call back. I leave another message, wait another day or 2 and FINALLY she calls. I asked if she could take a few more inches off the back b/c no one could tell I had an A-line.
She flat-out refused, saying that's a whole other cut and that what she gave me was what I asked for. (Really? I thought there was a difference between "subtle" and non-existent).
I was a bit surprised at her unwillingness to fix something she didn't do right. (And that's after I gave her an almost 50% tip--she talked about how she was strapped). I told her I would call to make an appointment when I had the money for a 2nd cut. A month later I called and left 2 messages and have never to this day gotten a call back.
Her lack of professionalism and extreme flakiness are signs that she should be in a different business. But she is also completely out of touch. When I told her I wanted a subtle A-Line, I contrasted it by saying 'just not like Victoria Beckham,' who of course has a severe A-Line. I now realize she had no clue who I was talking about.
I should have known by her semi-slovenly appearance. In life you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but in the beauty world, the person doing your hair should have an ounce of style.
All in all Paulina is flaky, not open to reason, and better suited in an office.
