When I first heard that Mervyns was moving out of Salem, I gotta tell you I was disappointed. I had noticed changes in service, less cashiers, longer wait time in lines, but still loved the sales, especially the shoes. Well, now I am glad Mervyns is leaving! My daughter bought a pair of shoes, wore them once, tried with the receipt to return them 2 days later for a different pair, and was refused!!!!! The cashier told her we don't have a contract with Vans, so we can't re-sell the shoe, we have the right to refuse to take it back. She came and got me, and I got the same story, When I asked to speak to the manager, she wouldn't even come out to see me, she told the sales rep over the phone to apologize, but that was their stance. I was blown away! Never have I received such lousy service. No wonder Mervyns is having financial problems.
