My friends and I were seeing a show at Carniage and chose Cityhouse because of it's location, prices and somewhat decent reviews. The atmosphere was okay. It was smaller then I had expected and you could tell that it was a hotel restaurant. We were seated quickly. We all chose the Prix Fixe Dinner for $45. This included an appetizer, entree', dessert and a glass of wine. The appetizers came quickly and were very good (lobster bisque, quiche and a crab cake, all were decent) Next up was dinner and that took a little longer to come. We all had filet mignon and I must say again, it was very good. However our empty plates sat in front of us FOREVER. Finally dessert time had come but the dessert never did. We waited for a very long time but we eventually had to leave because of the show we were seeing (we alloted 2 hours for dinner, which to me seems to be an adequate amount of time) After I spoke to the hostess we received our check and as I had requested a 20% ""discount"" was given.
This place has potential but it is extremely understaffed. There are no bussers and the waitstaff seems overwhelmed.
So good food, bad service.
