I get my hair done by Lisa- I have however (previous to using her on a reg basis) been there once for a trip with someone else and once for a pedicure. The first tiem was a trim and a deep conditioning with a younger girl, and there was nothing impressive and she didn't do what I asked at all. When someone says to curl their hair and you use a flat iron and don't curl it?? Anyhow, the pedicure, way overpriced. Nothing special whatsoever, and since then and bi weekly I go to Bellezza it's across the street on Sierra College by the Subway in the office park. Now, thats a pedicure. Anyhow, I agree that there is service lacking at the front desk. I've never been impressed with the receptionists, they are young and not welcoming at all. But, I always go to Lisa for my hair, and I"ve always been more than happy. She's wonderful at her job, amazing with scissors. I recently went to ZImbali to use a gift card I received for Mother's day. I was really looking forward to some well deserved pampering, since I am a mother of three. I arrived and checked in for my treatments only to find that the receptionist was extremely rude and apathetic. I tried making some conversation with her and she interupted me saying "someone will take you back in a few minutes" in a very matter a fact way, not even a smile. Absolutely no personality there. I read the previous reviews and it sounds like the same girl, Ashley. Seems like an ongoing problem with this spa and you would think the owners would have someone more friendly serving the public, especially in a spa environment. I tried to look past it and tell myself to enjoy my day anyway. When I finally got back to the locker room I found dirty laundry was put in my locker and I was expected to put it on. Before I could stop the girl to tell her she was already gone.Not knowing what to do, I decided to put the robe on and leave the other wrap in the locker, since it was obviously previously used. I had a facial first and it was o.k., but nothing to write home about. After my facial, I was lead out and was waiting for my massage with Amanda, I waited a very long time before she came to get me. In the meantime, nobody checked on me. When Amanda finally showed up, she smelled of onions (not too relaxing ).I had a massage from her once before and I remember waiting a long time then as well. Lastly, I had a manicure and pedicure with no complaints. I think this spa would be better if the front desk were more friendly and the technicians were more professional. It seems like it is lacking in good management and staff training. I have to vote no, I won't go back. There are too many other spas now to pamper me. Pros: location Cons: customer service more

I received a gift card at Christmas and was so happy to get pampered. I call to make my appointment for a massage ,facial and hair services and I was shocked!! Ashley the receptionist was so rude and obnoxious, I couldn't believe the owners would allow her to deal with the public on any level. I felt like she didn't care about anything or anyone, especially not me, maybe she was having a bad day. I finally got my appointment, what an ordeal. I showed up for my services. I went to the reception desk and there was no one there. I waited and waited for about 10 minutes, finally someone came to the desk. The receptionist said I was late. I replied to her and said no, I was on time and that I had been standing at the desk for 10 minutes. She just gave me a blank stare then said we have to get you into the Spa right now. I found out later her name was Ashley, the same girl I spoke with on the phone. Bad start for me. The rest of my day at Zimbali continued as it started. It was very disorganized and frustrating. I really didn't get any instructions on what to do or to expect. The staff didn't seem to be interested in being helpful. I ask to speak to the owner, Ashley said they were not there, so rudely I want to scream. I had been to Zimbali about a 1 1/2 years ago and it was great, the owner Traci gave me a facial it was the best. Her husband checked me out and he was so nice and helpful. I understand they sold the company last October. The new owners have made quite a few changes. I must say, not for the better. I don't think I will go back again. Pros: You've got to be kidding me!!! I used to be a regular spa client, and stopped going about a year ago when my massage therapist left and since I didn't care for the old owners, I stopped going. I could never get an appointment and was told by a friend it was because I had a gift card and they didn't want them redeemed so they can keep the money in the bank and they always made me feel like I was a dollar sign when I was checking out. I recently got a gift certificate for christmas and thought what the heck I'll use it and move on. I couldn't beleive it!! Once I arrived I was treated like a queen and felt so pampered and appreciated. The vibe was so inviting and everyone looked like they enjoyed working there. The NEW owner Jerry waited on me hand and foot before I was taken back to go for my service. I was excited to see my old massage therapist, Erica had come back to work there since being under new ownership. I felt relieved to see the new and improved Zimbali and will definately come back again. This was the best experience I have had going to a spa in this area and will share it with anyone I meet. I have a gift card to Ziimbali and was using it to get my hair done. The last time I used it I was told very rudely by the receptionist that I could no longer include my gratuity. I asked why and so the owner Joe came out wearing ripped jeans and a hoodie telling me they changed their policy. He said we will do it this time but next time we cannot do it. I said O.K. and went on my way. I went in four more times to buy product and get my hair done and saw Joe and Jerry the other owner with no conflicts. I received a phone call out of the blue from Jerry stating that I was no longer welcome in their salon and when I asked why I was told that I made a scene at the front desk and was yelling at Joe. That never happened. And why two months later am I getting this call. So I asked if I could use the rest of my gift card and was told no. They said they will not honor it. I asked if I could get a refund for the card and they said no. I have about $250 dollars left on it and I am out of luck. This whole thing is suspicious. I don't know why I was called two months after the "incident" and why didn't Joe himself call me? I know they have recently purchased this salon and probably don't want to honor my gift card because it was purchased before, but it says Zimbali on it and the establishment is still named Zimbali. I had a facial appointment on a Saturday morning and when I arrived the doors were locked and there were a lot of other customers waiting outside in the rain as well. We waited for 30 minutes past the time of our appointments. Finally the doors opened and we were let inside with no appologies. I waited an additional 20 minutes inside before I was taken back to get changed for my facial. As I received my facial my esthetician told me the receptionists did not show up for work because they were out drinking the night before. I thought that was pretty unprofessional to devulge that information to a client. When I checked out I was not given any appologies or offered anything for the inconvenience. I was hoping the owner would call me later and appologize for the situation so I could feel comfortable about returning. That never happened. I had always been a loyal customer and used to see the old owner Traci for my skin. She was always helpful and professional. I know this would have never happened if she was still the owner. I think I will find her to do my skin from now on. Pros: can't think of any anymore Cons: uncaring owners more

So, I reviewed this place before when I had gotten my eyebrows done. Didn't have a problem with that. But I went back--and had a HORRIBLE experience!!! The esthetician applied the wax wrong on one of my arms and ripped skin off. She even repeated the same spot over and over.....so I looked like a burn victim for a week or so!!! (she did the same thing on my BRAZILIAN...OUCH!) They don't know what they are doing! I'm telling everyone I know NOT TO GO THERE. I now drive half an hour each way to go to a spa out in El Dorado Hills! Pros: Location Cons: *Everything! more

My maid of honor and I went there 2 days before my wedding and we both left "scared" in one way or another. She left with her fingers stained blue from an improperly formulated manicure finger soak and raw from multiple staff members trying to scrub out the blue stain. I left with skin literally missing from my underarms because the aesthitician repeatedly waxed the same area multiple times. The salon offered additional services to make up for the mishaps (which who in their right minds would accept that after experiencing that kind of service to begin with?!?!), and they did not offer any sort of financial discount or compensation. I went that one time and will NEVER go back!! Pros: Convenient location Cons: sterile environment, inexperienced staff, poor customer service more

I wanted to pamper myself as a kick-off to the new year. I bought a package and thought it was a bit pricey, but have never used any of the services other than a regular massage and wanted to treat myself. I fully got my money's worth and more. I had no idea a "facial" was so relaxing! The seaweed wrap was also wonderful! As was the light lunch. The massage was entirely different (more relaxing) than any other massages I've had. My afternoon at Zimbali's was more relaxing than a weeks vacation. All the staff were great, and checkout was quick and effecient. I look forward to a return trip, and will reccomend it to others! Pros: atmosphere, indulgent, good value Cons: can't think of any more

Friendly staff at the front desk. Therapists are nice and some are better educated than others. Price for Granite Bay is average though I didnt feel that I was getting a good value overall. There are other spas in the area offering top notch staff with much better value. Though I suppose location has a lot to do with the pricing and most people living in Granite Bay dont mind dropping more for services right around the corner. I was in and had full day of services. I did not find the services expensive compared to other spas in the area. The spa is serene and beautiful. The staff made me feel comfortable and pampered. I have been to many destinations spas that offered much less for a whole lot more money! I had the most relaxing facial I ever had and my pedicure was heavenly. I was waited on hand and foot in the spa. Check out was smooth no problems. I was asked how everything was and greeted with a smile. I would definitely return to this spa. Great Facials, Hair Care and pedi/manicures. I have always felt pampered without pressure to purchase anything. I have been going to this spa for a number of years and will continue to go. It is a little expensive but you get what you pay for these days. This spa takes good care of me and my skin and hair show it! I have never been kept waiting or over charged. Although the "eyebrow" girl was ggof to average...the price was a little too high! My pedicare was also average...but VERY expensive. I agree with the other review...It took forever to pay and leave, and no-one was in line ahead of me. The receptionist acts a little lost and indifferent (and I was told she was the owner). My sister and I had identical procedures, but they charged me $10.00 more? It took this "receptionist" 20 minutes to figure out why (she never did), but she took off the $10.00...finally. Was in for a gift certificate massage/ pedicure and manicureand was rushed through and did not get in enough time in steam room. My massage was started late and the therapist had long nails for being a therapist. it took forever to get out of their. It took about ten minutes to pay someone and there was a hair dresser that saw me but did not help out. To me this is bad Customer and there is to much Hype for this Spa I have been to better more

I have gone to Zimbali before for a hair cut and color, but this was the first for a facial and it was fantastic. I never thought this could make me so relaxed. If you want the relaxation of a massage but also want a little extra pampering thenis is wonderful. Great for men and women. Pros: atmosphere, staff, relaxing more
