I had heard really good things from others about Zama and when I found out they could bill for PIP (auto accident) I decided to check them out when my regular therapist was out of...

I had heard really good things from others about Zama and when I found out they could bill for PIP (auto accident) I decided to check them out when my regular therapist was out of town. I was impressed... at first. I had booked two appointments in a row and became suddenly very feverish and ill. I called as soon as I knew and cancelled my appointment that evening and the one the next day as well. I was told that in the future they would have to charge me a 33% cancelation fee if I failed to give 24 hours notice. Fine enough. When I called to make additional appointments I was told that they could not book an appointment for me because of my two late cancelations unless I gave them a credit card. I don't have any form of plastic by choice. Because of this she refused to book an appointment for me. I get that those procedures are in place for a reason, but I became ill and it was a one time thing. I could see if I had missed multiple appointments, but this was something I could not control. I would have gone back, but now I can't unless I get a bank account. more

Accupunture Works Wonders! 10/17/2011

Zama has a wonderful accupuncturist, Katelyn Decker! I was involved in a car accident 5mos ago, and started accupuncutre approx 2mos ago in August, and I swear along with the massage therapy, Accupuncture has helped to speeded up my recovery process!!! My neck and shoulders always feel great after accupuncture!! I'm a newbie to accupunture and let me tell you, it is not for the faint at heart,.. they are tiny little needles and you do feel an instant little prick, but Katelyn D. does her absolute best to adjust the needles so you are comfortable with your experience. Katelyn also does various forms of massage or other techiques to complete your sesssion so overall its a very comfortable and relaxing experience. I would recommend this very helpful and rewarding procedure to anyone involved in a car accident or sports injury, it really does give you results over time., I've noticed the difference in only 2mos!! more

Ashiatsu by Erica 7/31/2011

I have gone to a lot of massage therapists for my upper and lower back pain as a result of 3 bulging discs. I use the massages with my spinal decompressions. The massages did not provide the deep muscle work that I wanted. Even when the deep muscle was performed it resulted in more pain from the 'pointy' fingers. I searched around and decided to try Ashiatsu which I had not experienced before. After the first session with Erica, I realized that she provided the type of massage that I needed. Erica does a great job of providing deep muscle work without causing pain. With her expertise, I have not had to brace myself for any pain because there isn't any. She is very professional and caring. She pays special attention to any particular issues that I bring. I wish I had known about her a long time ago. I highly suggest that you make an appointment to see her. You will be very glad you did. Be Well. more

fantastic professional massage 7/30/2011

zama massage was my first massage here in Portland oregon after a week of road trip and moving into a new apartment. the space is in an eclectic part of town with interesting shops and restaurants. the interior is zen basic, relaxing, quiet and comfortable. very simple to make reservation via telephone. the therapists were professional, caring and they listened to my situation and addressed my chief concerns. i left there feeling wonderful and renewed. thank you zama massage for a wonderful experience. Walked out of "totaled" car - directly into Zama Massage! 7/28/2011

I was the driver in an accident that totaled my friend's car. Fortunately, I was not at fault, and was able to walk (stiffly) away - directly into an appointment at Zama Massage. Suffering from whiplash, and bruises everywhere, I was promptly cared for by the professional and knowledgable Zama staff. At the end of the visit, not only was I pain free, but I directly attribute the care I received at Zama for enabling me to return to work the very next day! My follow up appointments were invaluable to my recovery and continued well being. Once a month for several years, I attended a one hour massage with Katherine Stauffer, and later with Erika Mueller. Other than the accident, I have health related pain issues that are significantly relieved by massage: it is the most cost effective and least invasive form of effective pain management I have tried. The staff at Zama has also worked hard to accommodate short-notice needs, such as special events or changes in my pain levels that need immediate attention. I really enjoy and appreciate the staff at Zama and have recommended them several times to friends who are looking for a professional, consistent experience. I highly recommend them to anyone seeking pain relief as part of a plan for whole-body healing. more

I've been a client of Lisa's for a few years and her deep tissue massages are wonderful, relaxing and are helping work out some longterm pain issues. She is very professional, and attentive and she really gets into the tight areas but is careful to not dig too deep. The massages are very relaxing and therapeutic. more

Excellent massage by Erika 3/22/2011

Erika is by far the best masseuse I have seen. Erika goes out of her way to help you feel comfortable and discuss your problem areas as well life style. This enables her to work on the areas that are prone to irritation as well as alleviate pain and enhance relaxation. Erika's focus on overall wellbeing helps her clients work on long term healing in addition to immediate pain relief. more

Lisa is the best! 2/7/2011

Last year for Christmas my awesome boyfriend bought me a message at Zama. It was my first massage in five years, and Lisa made me feel instantly at ease. My body takes a beating from the running, biking and paddling I do. Lisa's sport massage helped work out a lot kinks and sore muscles. I've been back to Lisa twice times since my first massage, and Lisa's sport massages are now an important part of my workout routine. more

Had an amazing massage by Racheal Kasprzak. It was a fantastic expereince. It's a relaxing and comforting environment and Racheal did a great job at keep the temp perfect and the pressure great. I feel so much better and can't wait for my next appointment. Add in the ease of being able to schedule online, I would never go anywhere else again! Ask for Racheal, she was the best! more

Got Ashiatsu! 1/19/2011

OMG the best massage ever by Desiree. She is the QUEEN of Ashiatsu. She makes you feel comfy and then you just relax into a trance of joyful bliss as she works her lovely soft feet all over your body getting the knots out. She uses her hands too and they are lovely, but the feet is where its at! My back was in pain all the time, but after seeing her monthly I am in tip top shape! more

Great Masseuse! 1/15/2011

I have been seeing Tate for the last ten months for an MVA. When I started seeing her I had chronic back pain that she ended up getting rid of over time. Tate always makes me feel very comfortable and relaxed, knows exactly how to get the knots out of my back, is flexible with her schedule, and is an awesome masseuse! I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a great massage. more

I have been lucky enough to visit Zama several times now following an MVA that left me with a serious pain in the neck. I have been very impressed by the friendly, professional, and expert massage therapists! I have also been impressed by how knowledgeable all of the massage therapists are. I have learned something important about my body and health during every visit so far. Zama has got it going on! So far I have worked with Jarrod, Lisa, and Lynn. All three of them are amazing! I have been to many massage therapists in my life and let me tell you, these people are top notch in every way. Lisa is wonderful in every way and also trained in Cranio-sacral massage, which is amazingly relaxing and rejuvenating, I highly recommend trying it. Lynn is truly an expert in deep muscle work. I tend to prefer a deeper massage and even somewhat painful (in a very good way) massage and Lynn really knows her stuff . I have only seen her twice but she has helped me so much already. Thank you Lynn!! Jarrod was amazing with the deep muscle work as well and regular massage. Our schedules haven't matched up but I would definitely go back to see him. He made me feel totally comfortable, relaxed, not to mention he really knows his stuff and has an amazing touch! Another big plus for me is that I can get so much info from the Zama website. I can also schedule and cancel/reschedule appointments if needed right on the website, I love that. They send me friendly reminders so I won't forget my appointments. Thank you, very helpful for a busy Mom like me. I also want to mention the relaxing atmosphere along with the complimentary tea and water they offer to help relax you as you sit in the comfortable and relaxing lounge. The massage rooms and waiting area are very tastefully decorated with relaxation in mind. I can't wait to return to Zama. more

Troy practices at another level 1/14/2011

I strained my shoulder at the gym and it wasn't coming back as it should, so I looked for someone who really understood shoulders. I needed someone who understood the mechanics of a body put beyond its limits, and who was not afraid to use great strength tempered with sensitivity when applied to an injury. I found Troy at Zama, who so exceeded my hope and expectation, delivering transformation and healing.He not only can read my mind, but his touch listens to muscle and joint to understand exactly what it needs and where the limit lies. He moves and conditions my body in ways I thought not possible. All the while he makes it so easy and natural to give him full and total trust. Katelyn is AMAZING!!! 1/10/2011

I recently had a few treatments from Katelyn and have enjoyed them very much, but the one I got today topped anything I've ever experienced. It was one of the best treatments I've ever had. She is so easy to communicate with and has great intuition and talent. Zama is a great place to get a treatment, the atmosphere is very welcoming and calming. I will definitely getting more treatments from her. more

Wonderful Relaxing Massage 12/27/2010

I was given a massage at Zama as a gift from by boss-one of the best presents you can be given or give yourself. The whole atmosphere is relaxing and I was able to let go of all my stress and the nasty stress knots in my back. Troy was very observant and really worked with what I needed. I'll Be Back! 12/12/2010

I have chronic tension in my neck, shoulders and in those nasty muscles behind my shoulder blades, which causes some pretty intense migraines. I had never had it treated with massage before, but after nearly a week of medicating a migraine with no relief, I got a massage from Racheal Kasprzak. Typically I get these migraines every week and a half or so for 2-3 days, and after a single massage with Racheal, I didn't have an ache for a month! That's pretty much a miracle for me. Racheal was very professional and thorough. I got a full body massage, and she made sure to focus in on the areas that were causing me pain. I will be visiting her again soon! more
