Funky little neighborhood pizza joint 11/21/2006

Loud music, and cramped setting, but delicious pizza. Highly recommend the Da Vinci. Grab a slice and sit at the bar if you don't want to wait on a table. Pros: pizza!! Cons: service okay, and little loud and cramped more

Great Pizza Joint in Russian Hill 10/27/2006

The pizza here is one of then best in the city. After living in NYC for several years, that means alot! The slices and pies are all thin crust and feature creations like the ""Salvador Dali"" with chicken and sun-dried tomatoes. I like eating there but the place is usally packed so I would then recommend ordering the pizza for take-out instead of delivery bc that usually takes an hour. Pros: Thin-crust pizza, friendly staff Cons: Crowded, small space more

Best pizza in the neighbourhood, but don't order for delivery or go there on the weekend. 10/24/2006

Their pizza is a sin. I live only a few blocks away so it's very tempting. It's a small busy place so I don't go there on the weekends - it's just packed and loud then. But their pizza is good compensation for a little wait. Toppings are creative and jummy!\r Had terrible experience with delivery, takes them forever and of course they lie/ cover up on the phone. But isn't that the same thing with all the other GOOD AND BUSY places...???\r Go there on a weeknight or order over phone and pick it up yourself, that's what I recommend. Pros: best pizza in the neighbourhood Cons: no parking, long wait for delivery, packed on weekends more

Gourmet Californian thin-crust pizza 9/17/2006

Okay, it's no NYC pizza, but can anyone in SF do NYC pizza? If so, DO TELL now! But it is the best thin crust pizza-only joint around. The crusts are usually crispy and the toppings creative (= californian). Best bet: order a whole pizza, eat it as soon as it arrives on your table. Pizza by the slice can sometime be greasy (reheated pizza?). Unless you have lots of patience and are not hungry, don't attempt to eat there on a weekend night! They only have a few tables and the place gets completetly mobbed! And oh, they don't let you phone in your order ahead either. Eat there on a week night instead. Pros: crispy thin crust pizza w/ creative toppings, reasonable price Cons: gets mobbed on weekends, limited seating more

nice pizza 9/2/2006

I'm not too picky on my pizza, i pretty much like it all but this place is definitely one of the better one's I've tried. They have very unique toppings and good service. We usually order in, and they give you coupons on their menu's for a few bucks off which is nice. The sauce they use isn't too flavorful or spicy but the rest of the toppings are great. Pros: pizza more

A Top Tier Pizza Joint 8/21/2006

This was truly a sensational experience on a fine Saturday afternoon. Reading past reviews on this pizza shop, I took the advice of not going there during the dinner rush. Its my understanding that this place becomes packed with patrons during the evening. After my pizza experience there, I can understand why. This pizza truly deserves to be in the top tier of pizza shops in the bay area. They can definitely hang with the big boys. I had a few bites of my girlfriends salad and I thought it was pretty decent as well. However, if you go there and dont get at least one slice of pizza, you are missing out. \r \r Stopping in for lunch was a godsend. As a recent transplant from LA, I am on a never ending mission to seek out the best pizza places/slice shops in the area. This one is a gem. No, wait, it is a diamond mine! In my opinion, Za Pizza rivals Abbots Pizza in Venice, CA and Lamonicas near UCLA.\r \r Also, lets not forget the SERVICE there. Fan-freakin tastic! Im not even being the slightest bit sarcastic either. The guy with glasses (I think he is the owner) is a friendly guy who knows how to treat the customer. He'll make you feel welcome. As a matter of fact, all the employees who were there were nice and very attentive to us, as well as the other customers. I gotta say thanks to Za Boys.\r \r I can honestly say that having lunch there brightened my whole day. I almost had to shed a tear. Too bad I don't live closer to Russian Hill, but then again I would only get a bigger pizza gut Pros: Superior Pizza and Service, Nice Neighborhood Cons: Small dining area, Parking more
