The pibil tacos here are just outstanding- incredibly juicy and bursting with flavor. This is a unique little taco stand- I don't know anywhere else that serves up food in their style. Simply awesome. more

I Dream About Their Burritos 2/18/2011

Whenever I'm in the neighborhood I have to go to this parking lot and wait in the long line (which tells you it's worth it) and get the very simple, but amazing burrito. There's a certain flavor, I'm assuming from a region of Mexico, a something smokey, or something, that is just fabulous. more

Amazing tasting mexican food. 8/30/2008

Whenever burritos are mention, this is the first place that comes to mind. Been going here for over 14 years now and it still the best in my opinion, not the best looking but who cares when it so good..Definitely worth stopping by if you love mexican food. more

Simple and Great 4/3/2008

There's not a Lot of variety this place can offer, but what it's got it's got good. People are right about the puerco pibil-- it's fantastic and the feature of the menu. It's a real fun place to stop and grab some food. Pros: hey, it's in a parking lot. Cons: might be nice if it could have a Little more shade and seating under it. more

Machaca Burrito 3/6/2008

Machaca is my new favorite word. Stewed, stringy beef! In a burrito with some pinto beans. Warm flour tortilla wrapping it all up. About the size of a small envelope, not the rolled stomach bombs served up at Mexican McDonalds' like BJ Fresh. These burritos are tasty, juicy, small, and only $3.50 (something like that). Where else can you eat for under $5? Pros: Convenient Walk-up Location with parking. Next door to liquor store for BYOB. Cheap. Cons: Not open late. Not open on Sunday. more

the cochinita pibil burrito is heaven 1/13/2008

No they don't have chicken. The tiny shack/kitchen can only handle so many ingredients and cooking supplies, and pork is their specialty. All you need to know about Yuca's is the ""cochinita pibil burrito"". Get it, you will like it. Do not compare it to all the burritos you have ever had or liked. This is s a traditional Mexican slow-roasted pork dish from Yucatan. Preparation of traditional cochinita or puerco pibil involves marinating the meat in strongly acidic citrus juice, coloring it with annatto seed, and then roasting the meat. For those who are not experienced with this, it will be a different taste for you, but I assure you will enjoy the flavor. Pros: Cochinita pibil Cons: gets crowded sometimes, but worth the wait more

Overrated and under seasoned 12/30/2007

Upon reading rave reviews about this place I decided to go and check it out. I stood in line in a cramped space that I shared along with other people who tried to manage eating without elbowing the people inches away from them in line. My order was taken by a pleasant older lady who was incredibly polite and kind. I ordered the cochinita pibil burrito and carnitas tacos and took my food to go because I felt like eating in my car next to the Echo Park lake. The only lasting impression I got from the food was the smell of onions lingering in my car for a week afterwards. I even had to wash my hands 10 times in order to get the smell of the onions off. The food was not that amazing being that it was bland and under seasoned. So to sum it up this place is highly overrated; I?ve eaten better burritos and tacos elsewhere. ----------------- EDIT: Since my last visit i decided to give Yuca's another try. This time i ended up going for the hamburger, which is something i typically do when i go to places; ordering food that isn't their specialty and was pleasantly surprised. Personally, i thought the hamburger was better than the food that Yuca's is known for. The meat patty was nice and thin, and the tomatoes, lettuce and pickles were nice, crunchy and fresh. I'd say, go for the hamburgers! Pros: hamburger Cons: overcrowded, under seasoned and bland food, cramped, smelly more

So so 10/13/2007

I do not see what all of the hype is about. This place is very much mediocre. If Yuca's is not close to you no worries. I wouldn't recommend going out of my way for this food. As commented by prior reviews the burritos are a bit small and quite greasy. I do not see how this place is any better than any other taco stand or Mexican restaurant in the area- actually I think ""El Grande Burrito"", a taco stand/restaurant not so far away at Vermont and Beverly, is much tastier and has a better menu. To each his own. more

Great toco stand! 8/17/2007

The guys 1st review is so way off, either they're nuts or a competitor. The burritos have no grease at all, come on. Grease, that's funny. These are just great little burritos with tons of flavor with or without hot sauce. Lard a problem? Go easy beans. The meats are really good, all of them, but the toco's are small for the money. But if you want a quick Mexi fix, this is the place! The carnitas toco's are about the best, mechacha about as good, verde burrito kicks butt, and take something to go cause you know you'll want more later. Cash only & seating is an issue, but no one seems to care. Try it, you'll like it. more

Best home-style taste anywhere, small yet humble, worth the 20 mile drive. 7/6/2007

Yuca's is a little hidden taco stand that can very easily be overseen, but worth searching for. If you are the type of person that can taste the difference between one burrito to another, than you will definitely appreciate Yuca's food. I have four children and each one has a favorite meal, luckily Yuca's sells hot dogs, hamburgers, tortas, burritos and homemade drinks. Unfortunately she does not sell bottle water or sodas, but there is a small store steps away. All this talk is making me hungry; I know where I'm going for lunch... See you at Yuca's! Pros: Service is great it's like talking to you aunt Maria. Cons: it's far from my house. more

Delicious tacos at a personable burrito stand. 5/13/2007

Yuca's is a quick walk from my home, so I have eaten here fairly regularly for years. As tasty as the burritos are (and I crave the carne asada ones), what I really love are the tacos. Braised, juicy meat (I favour the carnitas) nestled in a couple of soft white corn tortillas, topped with a dash of salsa picada. Two of these are just right for me, although my appetite is merely average. Cash only, but the Albertson's across Hillhurst has ATMs just within the entrance. Pros: Quick service, delicious food. Cons: Closed by 6pm. more

bland and overrated 5/12/2007

i've lived in los feliz for years and burritos are my favorite food. i don't know why people are so into this place. i think it's just a trendy thing to say you love yucas and it makes people feel cool that they know about this little dive in los feliz. however, the burritos are flat out greasy and not very tasty. the tortillas are good, i'll give them that, but there are way, WAY better burritos in los angeles, and within walking distance of yucas. go to casa diaz on hollywood and vermont, get a carne asada burrito there, and then think about yucas while you're eating it. did someone just tell you that yucas was good? is it really good? do you miss the grease running down your arms and collecting on your elbows? yes? then go back to yucas and keep the myth alive. more

Best Mexican ever 2/27/2007

This is the ultimate neighborhood taco stand: always friendly, quick, cheap, and the food is mindblowingly delicious. The burrito is basically perfect, with mouthwatering shredded beef or pork, tender beans, and a dry floury tortilla. Try it with the green sauce. I think the machaca beef burrito is the way to go, but the carne asada's not bad either, and you can't complain about the pork. Definitely not for vegetarians or dieters, but Yuca's isn't trying to be anything it's not; if you're looking for simple, wholesome, incredibly yummy Mexican, this is the place to go. Pros: Great food, cheap, unpretentious Cons: No veggie options, small menu, often closed at night more

The best tacos in Los Angeles...hands down! 12/7/2006

There tacos and burritos are simply amazing. I think the carnitas are the best thing on the menu but everything else is great. My wife (a true Mexican) loves the beans and that says a lot. She'll hardly eats Mexican food at most places, particularly the beans! I've been there a million times and I haven't been disappointed yet. The owners are really sweet and always friendly. Best of all, my little boy loves it too! He's a finicky eater but he loves the beans too. Pros: Great food, great service and an amazing deal Cons: Parking can be a pain and their hours are a little weird. more

Yucas-AAAAAA! 10/5/2006

I love Yucas. I've been eating there for over 20 years. I call Mama Mama. By far the best quick Mexican food in L.A. They have been there forever, and just ask any steady customer, it is a great place for a quick meal. Those in the know, know where to go.....johnny c. more

Expensive Mexican junk food 9/3/2006

The food is OK, but nothing like Titos Tacos. It is a hole in the wall and the day I was there, the health inspector was arguing with owner about lack of proper refrigeration and proper sanitation. After getting sick at Purans (Next door), I was very afraid to take the risk. The portions are way too small for Mexican food and the quality is not much better than your average hole in the wall. Expect to spend over $10 to get full. more

I don't care - best burrito in the world. 1/6/2006

There is something about the soft flour tortillas and the flavor of the slow cooked tender pork that just can't be matched. Its the perfect saturday morning hangover fix. Greasy enough to the booze out of your system, but not so heavy that your whole day is ruined for eating the whole thing. I never ever ever get sick of eating here. BEST ON THE PLANET. They should franchise it and put McDonalds out of business. Pros: earth's best burrito, SO CHEAP!!!, fast service Cons: closed sunday, no vegetarian menu, very limited seating more

NO chicken?? Hope you like beef or greasy pork 10/2/2005

Granted, I've never been to the Yucatan, but somehow I have a feeling they have chicken there. But not at Yuca's. This place is definitely not reccomended for vegetarians or people who just aren't red meat eaters like myself. I've been ton tons and tons of little taco shacks all over LA and Yuca's seems a little half-assed to me. I ordered two carnitas tacos (because they had no chicken) and it was unbelievably salty I had to drown it in hot sauce and couldn't finish it. I also ordered a side of beans, which were delicious, but noted on the menu that it's made with pork lard. There. You've been warned. Pros: Quick, Cheap Cons: Little seating, Sodium frenzy more

Good, cheap fast food. 9/15/2005

So I'm stuck at work and all I want more than anything else is Yuca's steak sandwich. It is sooo yummy. I can understand the comments made on some of the reviews about how Yuca's tacos and burritos aren't the ultimate best in Los Angeles. But if you're a Silver Lake/Los Feliz local and you need a quick and yummy fix, Yuca's is where to go. But if you're hungry on Sundays, don't bother going there; they're closed. Pros: cheap food, steak sandwich Cons: limited seating, closed Sundays more

outstanding and worth the drive 9/15/2005

i have been coming here since jaimie(now deceased) and his wife, socorro opened this amazing eatery. i have never eaten anything here that was less than terrific. daughter dora pretty much runs the show now but mama socorro is there every day doing her magic. i have seen many top celebs eating here, too busy eating wonderful food to even stop and sign an autograph(which is frowned upon, they need their privacy) i dont live in the neighborhood anymore but still manage to get to los feliz area as much as possible and for only three reasons,,,,,dora, mama, and their amazing food. Pros: everything more
