The Best Place in St. Louis 5/9/2008

I have known this restaurant since its one room humble beginnings. It remains my favorite place in St. Louis. The food is excellent, always great. The creative touch of the owner is everywhere: the food, the walls, and the fireplace mantles. I appreciate too her dedication to helping Benton Park make a comeback. She has been here for > 10 yrs now. Hard to believe. It should not be hidden!. Pros: Food is great, take time to talk to the owner and you will see why I came to love it and remain a fan. Cons: None, it can be loud if there at Mardi Gras time, or if Band is playing more

Amazing Experience 11/11/2006

This was a great little place tucked away in a maze of residential areas. Definitely know where you're going. The food was great and unusual. Our waitress was not only knowledge of the menu, she also had favorite dishes and could make recommendations. We had wonderful appatizers, meals and desert and good company of both the waitress and the hostess. more

So Delicious 9/18/2006

I was wanting to try Brazilian food, so I found this place on Citysearch. I had one of the Chicken specials, and it was to die for! Not only was the food amazing, but the atmosphere is very cozy, with cute decor and music you just want to dance to. The wait staff was extremely friendly, and the place wasn't crowded at all! A must try! Pros: Food quality, service, atmostphere Cons: Need to expand menu! more

good date place 6/20/2006

been here on a couple of occasions, both informal, and both times was pleasantly surprised by the service, food and ambiance. location is soso, make sure to lock your car, tho inside, you really feel like you're in another place. decor is original and menu is compact yet flavorful. a bit pricey for an average meal, works great for a date, friendly get together, happy hour, office party, etc. Pros: great atmosphere, really feels like somewhere close to the equator, excellent food Cons: a bit pricey, so-so neighborhood more

Yemanja 2/21/2003

My husband is from Brazil, and for him being this far away from home it lets him feel a little bit like being at home. I have not gotten the chance to visit Brazil yet but Yemanja gives me the chance to try my husband's culture. The people that work there are so nice. Everyone needs to experience Yemanja. Pros: Good Parking, Nice People, Wonderful Food Cons: Expensive more

Big Boys Heaven 7/12/2002

From start to finish Yemanja Brasil has it all. We started the night with a great waiter. By the end of the night we were having conversations with the owner. The authentic Brazilian drinks and beers were wonderful. Our waiter followed by pointing us to the appetizer favorites. Our choice was the gulf shrimp on garlic toast with salsa. After that came soup and salads. The salad was clean and fresh, and the soup was excellent. Both entrees were supurb. The chicken entree were two large chicken breasts baked in corn meal, and covered with imported Brazilian cheeses. The pork entree had 3 pieces of pork topped with carmalized onion and pinapple. It also came with three great sides. We finished the night with Pudim Coca. Rich pudding cake topped with a coca sauce and coconut. I cannot say enough about my experience at Yemanja Brasil. Pros: Great food, Great service, Great atmosphere Cons: On Street Parking, Patio not always open, On the expensive side more
