My family just joined the YMCA a few weeks ago, mostly for the pool priveleges. I balked at the $100 joining fee and was really hoping that they would run another of their "no joining fee" promotions, but no such luck! I can't complain though, because I have taken my kids swimming at this location and two other YMCA locations 7 times in two weeks. It has been a wonderful way to spend time together and blow off energy.
We haven't even taken advantage of other YMCA perks, such as the fitness center, but are looking forward to it. This location is large and offers swim lessons, free child watch during certain hours so you can work out, an extensive fitness center, basketball courts, rooms you can rent out for parties... So many amenities for less than the cost of a health club membership.
We are definitely getting our money's worth at the pool alone! The pool has waterslides and an area for little ones to swim. Kids must take a swim test to get a red, yellow, or green band, which determines which part(s) of the pool they can swim in. The lifeguards have been very attentive so far this season. We really enjoy swimming at this location.
