I decided to start carrying XEX business cards in my wallet because I get stopped on the street so often by people that want to know who cuts my hair. I have a short bob style, and David Perry is the only stylist I trust to achieve it.\r \r David is more than a hair stylist, he's an artist. I went to XEX for a free consultation, and he made a few subtle suggestions to update my sad attempt at a bob haircut. Over the past 3 years that I've been a loyal client, every suggestion he has made has proven to be perfect for me.\r \r When David recommended that I try partial highlights to give my color a boost, I took his advice I have never looked back. I love that Barbara Wiersma keeps a detailed record of the colors she mixes for me so it's always consistent. She has a very meticulous technique that makes the highlights look as natural as can be (disclaimer: I am a natural blonde, but my hair has become slightly darker the last few years).\r \r Barb and David are the only ones I'll trust to touch my hair. The entire staff is extraordinarily friendly, and I'm there so often that they treat me like family. more

I have been going to XEX now for 3 years and I highly recommend it! TJ is the only person I will let cut my hair. He is always so friendly and the salon is up beat, clean, smells great & the glass they sell is beautiful to look at. If you are looking for a salon, please try XEX! They are stellar folk! more

\r I went to XEX Hair Salon for the first time yesterday for a cut and color. I heard so many great things about this salon from my co workers I decided to give it a try. I was treated so well! From the moment I walked in I was offered a beverage, the music was upbeat. It smelled like flowers (Aveda)! My hair was cut and colored by Barbara and she is now stuck with me. My color is perfect and my cut seems seamless! I am very happy with my experience! more

I have been going to XEX Hair Gallery for over 6 years & decided to join yelp just to write a review about them.\r They moved into the space that A Cut Above used to be which is where I went because I worked in the building. 6 months before XEX Hair Gallery moved into their space A Cut Above ruined my hair! They gave me a Japanese straighter which they left it on too long. Not only did I loose a lot of hair but it effected my roots and my hair is extremely fine because of it.\r Barbara was the first hairdresser I saw after this happened and I have gone to her ever since. She listened to what I told her about what happened and was with me the entire way until the straighter grew out. She is very professional, treats me like family, is stellar at cutting hair, coloring hair & has the strongest hands when she is washing your hair. She massages your scalp and makes sure you are 100% comfortable throughout your experience. \r The space is beautifully decorated with Darra Murano glass, bright colored walls, they have hip music on, staff is upbeat, friendly, they all seem to work in harmony.\r If you like them on facebook you can enter to win a gift certificate from a local business which they give away every 10 days, AWESOME!\r The owners believe in giving back to the community so much that they donate $1 from each service which equals to 8 plates of food with Feeding America.\r I suggest you experience XEX Hair Gallery, you don't know what your missing....\r \r \r \r \r more

I finally used the Groupon I bought here a few months ago and I had a great experience! I have been highlighting my hair blonde for years. I didn't expect anything different from this service until Jessica, my new stylist, gave me a world of hair information! She showed me that I had no dimension to my color, just solid blonde. I knew my hair was dry but never knew why. She explained that I have been over processed and taken way too light. Jessica suggested a highlight and lowlight and said within a couple of visits my color would look much more dimensional. It looked gorgeous and way dimensional after just one so I can't wait to go back. She also gave me tips on how to style my naturally wavy hair which, I always just blow dry straight. Honestly, she gave me lots of tips and was very easy to talk to because she listened. The staff here is great too. From the gentleman at the front desk to the other stylist nearby everyone was so friendly. I can't wait to visit XEX again. Thanks! more

I had a great experience and will be going back.\r \r I recently moved back to the Chicago area and wanted to find a nice salon to go to that made me pampered. XEX a great find. When I went in to set up and appointment, I asked for a stylist that is comfortable with fine hair. The guest coordinator recommended Jessica. \r \r For my appointment Jessica was prompt, profesional and very nice. She also did a great job at cutting my hair. I'm glad that I was able to find a stylist as great as she is. I will going back and Jessica will be my regular stylist. \r \r I also like the Fusion of Hair Salon and Art Gallery. more

I just tried XEX out for the first time, because my friend got a great haircut from David. Entering the salon the was great the energy and people were so friendly. My stylist was Nina Davis a lead stylist at XEX, she gave me the best haircut that I ever received. Nina was patient and confident with dealing my craziness. So glad I visited this place.. more

She was great she listened to all of my concerns, during the consultation she let me know that she was a colorist also. \r \r The salon has great energy, and all of the staff was very friendly. Absolutely love this place. I've been going here for a few months now and have gotten quite the variety of treatments here - manicure, pedicure, haircut, highlights.\r \r Everything I've done here, I've been nothing but impressed. The place is very welcoming, colorful,and intimate compared to some other big salons or spas.\r \r All of the stylist here are great and experienced. XEX is a great salon to visit. more

I went to XEX Hair Salon on Saturday to get a haircut from Kortney, who is a senior stylist there. I got the best haircut and blow dry I've ever received! The pricing at the salon is very reasonable for being located downtown chicago. \r \r Kortney took a lot of time and care on my hair. She really looked into the details and treated me like she's been doing my hair for years. My hair ended up looking fabulous, I've never received so many compliments after getting my haircut. I'm so happy with Kortney and XEX hair Salon. more

I've been coming to XEX for almost a year, and I'm in love. I've gone to David at least half a dozen times, and he always does an incredible job. I've had short hair for a long time, but at XEX I got an asymmetrical cut last fall and was so nervous, but David quickly calmed my nerves and gave me a fantastic cut. Never have I received so many compliments on my hair! Since then, I've come in with a basic idea of what I want and I have all the faith in him to make me look great. \r \r Something else I love about XEX is the deals. The prices are very reasonable for the quality styles I have received, and they do everything they can to make them even more so. As a college student, I automatically receive a discount which is always so helpful! And if you refer a new client, you and your friend get 50% off. Unbeatable! I've probably referred at least four of my friends because of the great experience I've had. I've never paid full price for a haircut. \r \r Customer service here is amazing. The salon itself is beautiful. Overall, a quality experience for reasonable, affordable prices. \r \r David's out of town and I need a haircut, so I'm going to Nina today! I'll definitely come back and add to my review to see how it goes! more

Best Salon in Town 5/13/2012

I've been living in Chicago for 7 motnhs, and I finally found my salon home. Calling this salon was very pleasurable, the receptionist was very friendly and patient. I walked into this salon, the energy was great, the receptionist greeted me, just like he did over phone, which made me feel great. My appointment was with Megan and Nina. I received highlights when I first moved to Chicago, and I hated them. I expressed my concerns to Megan, let her know that I was looking for some natural looking color. And she gave me just that, very natural looking hightlights. My hair was a little damaged from my last experience. Megan noticed and gave me a complmentary conditioning treatment. Then Nina gave me a very textured haircut. I left feelling like a Million bucks. This was a great experience, and I will definitely be back. more

Highlights 4/23/2012

I found this place more out of Convenience than anything else since I work in the LeoBurnett Building, that being said I decided to give this place a try. I've been there two times and always got great cuts. David has been the person cutting my hair and he is pretty awesome. Over the weekend I decided to have my Highlights refreshened from Amanda, she did an awesome job! XEX has a great vibe, we always start on time, and I always feel well taken care of. If you are looking for a new salon in Chicago , XEX is the place to visit. more

Haircut 4/16/2012

My stylist TJ is the bestest stylist ever. EVER. I love going into the salon every 7 weeks for my usual cut. TJ never lets me down! The salon is a great open space! The other stylists are very friendly. Everyone will ask if you would like a beverage, including wine, champagne and even beer!! By far, one the best salon's I've ever visited. I've recommended numerous friends to my stylist, along with the actual salon itself and they absolutely luv it too. If you recommend a friend to salon, a lovely discount will follow. Definitely one of the best salons in Chicago! more

Style 4/10/2012

I visited XEX for the first time for a wash and style with John. He was amazing, he brought back to life my dry, brittle over processed hair. Originally I booked an appointment for only a haircut, but the salon was so welcomiing and fun. I decided to pamper myself with a Mani/Pedi. The mani/pedi with Lena was fantastic and stayed longer than any other. The pricing is very reasonable for being in the loop. The salon has great energy, fun staff. It was very refreshing to be in this environment. You can tell that this place prides themselves on building customer relationships. I'm so glad that I found this salon! more

Mani/Pedi & Haircut 3/24/2012

I purchased a Groupon for a Mani/Pedi from XEX. The nail technician did an amazing job. While I was there I booked a haircut appointment, just from watching the great work that was leaving out the salon. Amanda was my stylist, she listened to I wanted, provided great styling tips. Amanda explained the best products to use in my hair. I loved the fact, that she didn't try to push the products on me. XEX is great, all of the staff was friendly. The salon is beautiful. I will definitely visit again!! more

Haircut 3/7/2012

I just had my second visit to XEX Hair Salon, and received the another great haircut from Keara. She is really good, my last haircut grew out perfectly. The staff at the salon is great. The energy in XEX is very welcoming. I left salon feeling great for the second time. Very satisfied with this salon. more

Extensions 2/13/2012

I visited the salon last week for the first time to get extensions, and from the initial booking when I called, after reading other reviews, I was pleasantly surprised. The receptionist was warm and friendly. My stylist Georgia was phenomenal! I was a little nervous about getting extensions for the first time at a new salon. Georgia gave me a great consultation, after the consultation I knew that I was in good hands. She matched the hair perfectly to my orginal hair color, and blended the hair very well. My hair looks so natural, and great. I have received several compliments after leaving the salon. The pricing for extension are very reasonable, especially being a salon located in the Chicago loop. more

Just got my hair done by David from XEX for the second time. I have had many stylist try to manage my long thick hair. I must say that David at XEX has mastered it. He cuts perfect layers in my hair, I am very pleased to have found this salon. more

I just received an amazing mani/pedi from Lena at XEX. I purchased a groupon, and I am very pleased that I did. Lena was amazing, she was kind and personable. Listened to me rant and rave, about a horrible nail experience that I had. Advised me the proper way to take care of my nails inbetween mani/pedi's. I am extremely satisfied!! more
