Some good, some bad 3/10/2011

This is my first pregnancy and experience with Women First. I found out that I was having twins, so I have been spending extra time here and have seen a few different doctors. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Miller. She is very personable, seems to genuinely care, and takes her time. I also had Dr. Clark. I felt a bit rushed with her. My only real complaint so far has been with the nurse practitioner Shannon Bretz. She didn't come into the exam room prepared, it seemed very difficult for her to even stay awake and like she couldn't get out of there fast enough. When scheduling my next appointments, I will definitely not be seeing her again. more

Dr. Dutton is the greatest Dr. ever!!!! 3/7/2011

I have had two miscarriages and lost one of my twin boys this past year, i also delivered my son and i have went to women's first through all of this, i have always been treated with kindness and respect. of course i have had a few bad visits here and there, the only complaint i have is when you call in with questions the triage nurses can be very uncaring, but all in all my experience with them has been great. i have seen all the nurse practioners, all the ultrasound techs and most of the dr.'s, i have to say i liked them all, but i can honestly say that dr. dutton is the best she was not only my dr but also my rock during one of the hardest times of my life especially during my last pregnancy she definintly went above and beyond for me, she is one of the most caring people i have ever met! i will continue to go to womens first, i couldn't imagine anyone else besides dr dutton delivering my son or any future children. more

Incompetent staff 3/23/2010

iIhad an awful experience with Women's First. The secretary staff seemed incompetent. They would never charge my insurance. Everytime I received a bill, I had to call them and give them my insurance info each time. They overcharge and charge you for unnessary items. My sister paid all her office visits up front and they still kept sending her random bills and she doesn't even now what she is paying for. The 10th time I called, they actually had my wrong ID number and group number. I do not understand how that happens when they make a copy of your insurance. I only had two office visits before I left. With the last office visit, they wanted "my system empty" so I had nothing to eat. They had me waiting for an hour and thirty minutes in a grown. As a pregant woman, I was starving and I had to pee. I asked my doctor if everything was fine with the blood work and if everything came back alright. She said yes. The very next day, the secretary called me and told me that they needed me to sc more

Stay AWAY! 8/9/2009

I would never recommend this practice. I went there the first time in 2005 when I was pregnant for the second time. First pregnancy ended in miscarriage. I had recently moved to Louisville and didn't yet have a gynecologist or ob. WF was recommended. I had called and made an appt and informed them of previous miscarriage. They still told me they wouldn't see me before 8 weeks. Unfortunately, b4 first appt. I started bleeding, just like with previous miscarriage. I went to WF and was given to a nurse practitioner. They did ultrasound, baby was still alive, but heartbeat was only 50. NP told me that all they could do was do another ultrasound in a week. She was very cold and uncaring. She told me that they don't take miscarriages seriously until you've had three in a row! \r \r I went to Partners for Women's Health from that point forward. Since then, I have had one baby. I am now pregnant with my second child and am back at Women First because my wonderful doctor, Dr. Holly Brown, has mov more

Just OK 1/2/2008

I have had 2 babies at Women First and liked most of the revolving door of doctors that I saw. However, I agree with the earlier comment regarding "bad news." My 3rd pregnancy ended in a miscarriage - which I learned from the ultrasound tech. I then had to spend 20 minutes sitting in the main waiting room with all of the obviously pregnant women trying not to weep TOO loudly. It was torture. Then, when the medical assistant finally called me back, she actually asked what brought me in. I had to inform her that the fetus had no heartbeat. Shouldn't they have a system for communicating these things? You know, like maybe a chart?? I will say that when I did finally get to see a doctor, it was Dr. Price and I really thought her bedside manner was great. Pros: Available for questions Cons: Waiting room more

Dr. Dutton 11/18/2007

Dr. Dutton is absolutely wonderful. She is the first doctor I have ever been to who truly made me feel 100% comfortable. I sent her a thank you note after my first appointment with her. I can't imagine ever wanting to go to anyone else. Pros: Dr. Dutton put me at ease and really listened to me. She made me feel very comfortable. Cons: The office staff wasn't overly friendly or helpful but they weren't bad either. Very average. more

unexpected events in pregnancy 8/11/2007

I agree that Dr. Dutton is wonderful and really has extrordinary skills not only in medical terms but she really knows how to listen. I have the same opinion of Dr. Miller. Unfortunately, if you have anything other than a noneventful pregnancy, I feel as though this is not the place to be. For those of us who lose our babies/pregnancies in any stage it is extremely difficult. The office doesn't have anywhere for you to go after you recieve the bad news (usually via ultrasound-then you have to go wait to see the Dr.)other than out in the waiting room with all the other pregnant women and babies!! I also felt that I was forced to see the nurse practitioners often and any "issues" I had were really never answered. One out of the 4 Dr's I saw did not support choices I made in what I felt to be the best interest of the baby and did not address my concerns, because it seems as though she has no concerns in pregnany. A good point is that the ultrasound equiptment and lab are right in the office. The bad is that if you need tests run they are sent out and can take weeks for the results. Overall, as a gynecology office I think it is great, but as an OB I just didn't feel they were equipt to handle patients that need emotional support after or during a difficult pregnancy. Pros: basically in hospital unltasound in house Cons: long waits, difficulty getting appointments, lack of grievence councelors and/or privacy more

Finally, a Doctor Office you Can Trust! 6/21/2006

When I was pregnant I could not decide where I wanted to go to have my baby or what doctor I wanted to start seeing for my check-ups. After speaking to a few friends and family members I decided on Women First. (Inside Baptist East) What I liked the very most is throughout your pregnancy you see all of the doctors (7 of them I think). When it is time for you to deliver you will know the doctor that is going to deliver your baby because you have had a chance to meet all of the doctors. A lot of smaller places do not offer this. The last thing you want to do is to see a doctor for 9 months only to find out your doctor is not on call. I also have never been to a doctors office where they get you in and out so quickly. I love to go to Women's first for all my OBYGN needs. PROS: Quick Service, Friendly CONS: more

Dr. Dutton in the Greatest! 3/19/2006

I would not want to have a baby with any other group. I saw several of the Drs and they were all wonderful. However, Stephanie Dutton is the best by far. more
